Japan Sencha
Product Description
Japan produces some of the finest and most refined green teas in the world. It is highly enjoyed by the Japanese population, being brewed at home, purchased in a can from heated vending machines at bus stops and train stations, made with meals, and drunk all day at the office. It is pretty much available everywhere. The primary growing region for this tea is Shizuoka prefecture south west of Tokyo. This region is closely associated with high quality tea and the most commonly produced variety is Sencha. It is produced by steaming freshly plucked green leaf and rubbing it either by machine or by hand. The rubbed leaf is then pan fried or basket fired which gives it its distinctive glossy, almost waxy, appearance. The cup has a superb light colour, rich notes of mellow grass and hints of honey.
To make hot tea: Put 1 slightly heaping tsp of loose tea for each 250ml of water in the teapot. Pour freshly boiled water over tea. Steep 3-7 mins.
